Starting over

I've been MIA for a little while & re-thinking my situation. I haven't tracked for a month at least nor have I done any exercise except for 1 30 min walk on 6 Jan. Mind you, I haven't gained....only tiny I'm now at 89.3kg. Still under that dreaded 90! Gotta be happy with that.

However, I know that unless I get myself under control, that won't continue. I've gone back to that awful out of control late night eating. Ergh. I must get that under control or nothing will ever work. I'm travelling to the USA in September & while I really wanted to get to goal, I know now that I won't/can't. It's still 24kg away and I've only got 8 or 9 months. Actually probably only 7. So with that in mind, I thought what is the weight that I'd be happy with? So I'd like to be 75kg by then. Well, that's only 1.5kg a month. Surely I can do that????? How hard can that be? So yesterday, I started again. I ate 18.5 pts but still did no exercise. It's been really hot here in the past few days. Excuses, excuses.

  1. Yep, it does sound like we are in the same boat with this weight loss thing! However, I do think we need to recognise how NOT GAINING is an achievement in itself. As I said in my rambling blog entry,I find is scary how LITTLE I have to eat just to maintain my current weight. But, like you, I really want to lose more weight and it sounds like your USA trip could be a great incentive. If I was going to the US I would want to buy lots of clothes as I have found it easier/cheaper to get nice clothes there, particularly jeans . . . maybe that will spur you on! Of course there's all those fabulous needle work and craft shops too! Wish I was going to the US in September, actually . . . I'm going to Bali on March 24 to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday and I would like to be at least 75kg then so hopefully will be able to get some clothes made for me. I need to lose about 2kg a month, I think. So you and I both have set ACHIEVABLE goals.

Tracking EVERYTHING is a great start to getting back on the wagon--even those pesky little chocolate royals and nougat bars (left over from Christmas!). Even if you go WAY over your points, tracking really does help as it makes you aware of what you ARE eating.

Thanks for the stuffed capsicum recipe. My teenage son has gone all vegetarian on me, so I will definitely give it a go.

Tell us more about your trip . . . Are you actually from the US (the cowboy hat and the Dr Pepper??? Great photo, btw). But you write like an Australian. Maybe it's those great needlework stores that are luring you to the US???

  2. It doesn't matter how many times you start again as long as you DO! 1.5kgs a month is VERY achievable, look forward to seeing those numbers drop between now and your overseas trip.

  3. I'm right there with you, hon! I hadn't been to a WW meeting since October because I convinced myself I didn't "need" them. Even though I did manage to lose a bit over the holidays, I definitely realized that I need the accountability of going to WW meetings. So, I dragged myself back yesterday. Hopefully we'll both be a lot lighter when we see each other in September. :)
